My Values

Express with Purpose, Impact Humbly, Observe, and Wonder

Hi, I’m Kyoko Eng 👋👋

I create systems, spaces, and interactions that explore what responsible design means for digital environments.

Professionally, I’m a product designer with a focus on interaction and socio-technical systems. To that end, I often sit at the intersection of engineering, design, and the social sciences. Personally, I see myself as an observer, facilitator, and architect. As much of a “generative” thinker as a “refiner”, I often move between the macro and micro—examining how systems influence personal experience and how personal experience, in turn, reshapes systems. This practice of going inward to outward and then outward to inward grew from my eastern and western heritages, was nurtured throughout my time in the performing arts, and then ‘clicked’ into a calling during design school.

Fueled by the experiences listed above and by my upbringing in Memphis, TN at the core of my work is a drive to understand and a belief in principled living. I strive to create experiences that help people better understand themselves and others. My hope both in design and with my life is to contribute to a world where we lead by example, and reach across divides to seek understanding—even when we don’t agree.

In my off-time you can catch me climbing at the nearest bouldering gym or at your local cafe in an outdoor seat gazing out at the people and trees.
